Mission

We envision a future where educators across Massachusetts are informed, empowered, and organized to lead the integration of artificial intelligence in K-12 schools. By building a strong grassroots network, we aim to ensure that educators' voices shape the future of teaching and learning in an AI-driven world. Our schools will be better prepared to harness the potential of AI while minimizing harm, promoting equity, and protecting the wellbeing of all students.

Capacity Building

  • Connecting MA educators with accessible AI professional development tailored to Massachusetts educators
  • Providing practical resources for implementing AI tools in K-12 settings.

Collaboration

  • Creating a collaborative space for sharing insights, recommendations, and best practices among the members of NGLC.
  • Building partnerships between the members of NGLC and stakeholders concerned with AI in education across Massachusetts, nationally and internationally.

Equity and Access

At NGLC, we believe AI equity begins with access.
Urban and Title I schools must have the same opportunities to explore AI as well-resourced districts.
We empower educators through professional development and training on AI tools.
By building capacity, we ensure AI drives equity instead of widening gaps.

Vision

Informed Educators

Educators across Massachusetts have access to current research, training opportunities, and practical resources that enable them to understand and effectively implement AI tools in their classrooms with confidence.

Collaborative Community

A thriving network of teachers, administrators, and stakeholders work together to share insights, develop best practices, and support one another in navigating AI integration across the commonwealth.

Ethical Integration

AI implementation in Massachusetts K-12 schools prioritizes student wellbeing, promotes equity, and is guided by evidence-based practices and transparent data systems that ensure responsible use.

Anne Merritt: Director of Professional Development

I’m honored to begin the 25-26 school year as the Director of Professional Development for NGLC.
After more than two decades in the classroom, teaching courses like Computer Science Essentials, Cybersecurity, Robotics, and Computer Science Principles, I’ve come to believe that the most powerful innovations in education happen when we listen to each other — and learn together. My path has included roles as a STEM instructor, instructional technology coach, graduate educator, and consultant, but the heart of my work has always been supporting teachers.
For over ten years, I’ve had the privilege of mentoring educators across Massachusetts as a program supervisor with Class Measures, helping teachers earn licensure through alternative pathways. That experience has deepened my respect for the diverse journeys educators take — and the unique strengths they bring to the profession.
I’m stepping into this  role not to decide who gets to speak, but to help everyone find their voice.
As we explore AI together, my goal is to foster a culture of curiosity, collaboration, and courage — where every educator feels supported, heard, and empowered to use these tools in ways that truly enhance teaching and learning. I’m excited to learn with you and grow alongside you this year.
